BMKG Nunukan and BPBD Nunukan Regency Collaborate to Anticipate Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical (MKG) Disasters
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class IV Nunukan Meteorology Station is collaborating with the Nunukan Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in efforts to overcome and anticipate disasters caused by weather changes. This cooperation aims to minimize the impact of damage and losses due to natural disasters, such as extreme weather, extreme climate, earthquakes, and tsunamis in the North Kalimantan Province. The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Weather, Climate, Earthquake Information Services, and Early Warning of Extreme Weather, Extreme Climate, and Tsunami was carried out by the Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (KUPT) of the Nunukan Class IV Meteorological Station, Mr. William S.H.S., S.Kom. together with the Head of the Nunukan Regency BPBD, Mr. Arief Budiman, S.Pt, M.Si. The event took place on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Nunukan BMKG Office. Through this collaboration, the two agencies are committed to improving coordination and disseminating information related to potential disasters quickly and accurately to the public. This is expected to increase preparedness and reduce the risk of losses, both material and human casualties, in the North Kalimantan region, especially in Nunukan Regency.
